Product & Ingredients
- Are Sloan Rose candles vegan and cruelty-free?
Yes, all of our candles are 100% vegan and cruelty-free, made without animal products or testing. - Do your candles contain parabens or phthalates?
No, our fragrance oils are carefully sourced to be free of both. - Are your candles safe for people with allergies or sensitivities?
Our candles are made with soy wax and fragrance oils. If you're sensitive to strong fragrances, we recommend reviewing the scent notes on each product page before choosing, and burning in a well-ventilated space with shorter first burns.
Use & Safety
- How should I burn my candle for the first time?
Let the wax melt evenly across the whole surface before extinguishing, about 2 hours. This first burn sets the memory of the wax and prevents tunneling for the life of the candle. - How can I prevent tunneling?
Always let the wax pool fully across the top before putting it out. Keep the wick trimmed to ¼ inch, and avoid burning longer than 4 hours at a time. - Is it safe to burn around pets or fragrance-sensitive people?
We use clean ingredients, but any candle should burn in a ventilated space. If someone in the home is very sensitive, start with shorter burns.
The Vessel
- Will my vessel look exactly like the photos?
Almost, and that's the point. Each vessel is reclaimed aluminum, cleaned and engraved by hand, so small variations are part of every piece. No two are the same, perfectly imperfect. - How do I clean the vessel once the candle is finished?
Pour hot (not boiling) water into the vessel. The remaining wax melts, rises, and hardens as the water cools, lift it out and wash the vessel with warm soapy water. Never pour wax down the sink. - Can I reuse the vessel?
Yes, that's what it's for. Once cleaned, it lives on as a pen cup, a bud vase, a brush holder, a small catch-all. We don't recommend it for food or drink. - Do you take empty vessels back?
Not yet, we're working on it. For now, we'd rather you keep it, that second life is the point of the object.
Made to order
- Which pieces are made to order?
Some Sloan Rose objects are not kept in stock and are made only when you ask for them, currently, the Leather & Labdanum collaboration candle and every Love Letter. Each product page says clearly if a piece is made to order. - How long does made to order take?
Made to order pieces are poured, finished, and shipped within [5 to 7] business days. Tracking arrives by email the moment it's on the way. - Can I change or cancel a made to order piece?
Within 24 hours of ordering, yes, write to us. After that, your piece is already being made.
Love Letters
- What is the Love Letter?
A custom letter, printed inside the Sloan Rose letter template, sealed with a scent trace and a postcard-size print, and sent by post, to your recipient, or to you to give yourself. It comes in three ways: the letter alone, paired with a candle, or as a keepsake with a name engraved on the vessel. - What if I made a mistake in my message?
Write to us within 24 hours of ordering and we'll correct it before printing. We print your words exactly as you send them, so read them twice, once it's printed, it's printed. - Will the recipient see the price?
Never. No invoice, no price, nothing commercial inside the package. They see your words, your name if you've given one, and nothing else. - Can I send it anonymously?
Yes. Leave the sender name blank and the letter arrives unsigned. We'll never tell.

In-stock pieces ship within 3 to 5 business days. Made to order pieces within 7 to 10 business days. Tracking always arrives by email. - What is your return policy?
All sales are final, each piece is handmade in small batches and many are made just for you. If your order arrives damaged, write to us within 7 days with a photo and we'll make it right. - Where can I buy Sloan Rose?
